Michael Scarano, President/Founder

Michael Scarano serves as President of Provident Sports Consulting, where he provides institutions with best-in-class service regarding strategic planning, reclassification guidance, compliance reviews and NCAA initial eligibility presentations. His vast experience as a former coach and athletics administrator at NCAA (Division I, Division II) and NAIA institutions has elicited tremendous success.

 

Scarano has conducted numerous presentations at high schools, two-year, and four-year institutions regarding integral aspects of athletics. He is a strong advocate for providing the student-athletes a great experience and enhancing an athletics department inner growth. He is a proven, solution-oriented leader who has established sports-related marketing and promotions, enhanced game management procedures and also created crisis-management and emergency response plans.

 

In recognition of his compliance efforts, Scarano was presented with the 2005 Outstanding Achievement Award by the National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and in 2017 he was selected as a mentor of the NCAA National Association Athletics Compliance Elite (A.C.E.) Mentoring Program. He has also served as a certified Title IX Investigator. In this capacity, he worked closely with institutional representatives to develop and investigate information related to violations of Title IX legislation.

 

Scarano has a long and exemplary career in college athletics as he held administration positions at California Baptist University, Waldorf University, UC Riverside, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Before joining the administrative side of college athletics, Scarano coached men's and women's cross country, women's basketball, and men's basketball at multiple stops, including The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Cal Poly Pomona, and UC Irvine. 

 

Scarano is currently serving his 15th year on the College Athletics and Law Advisory Board that provides practical guidance on College Athletics laws and regulations.  Scarano’s civic involvement includes serving on the City of Riverside Budget Engagement Commission and on the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame Executive Board.

 

Michael earned his M.Ed at Azusa Pacific University and his Bachelor of Arts in English from California State Polytechnic University. He has also served as an adjunct professor in the La Sierra University College of Business and at in the Kinesiology Department at California Baptist University.
